Can you Share Webcam in Home Network Like Printer?

    Can you make it such that with my laptop in my room i can connect directly to the webcam in the living room - like i connect to the printer in the living room?

    i think not. our house is fairly large, im not sure how good the wireless webcam be...

    im thinking more like a shared printer if you know what i mean

    Can you be more specific what you want to do actually?

    But, by just reading your thread, what sweetdreamz said is true. Get a wireless webcam. And if you find the signal is weak because of the distance, you can purchase WIFI extender to solve the problem.

    you know how you can share a printer across your home network?(that you can print from a laptop in your room on the living room printer connected to a desktop in living room?

    Well, i want to be able to connect from my laptop in my room to the webcam in the living room

    Lmfao, why do you need to be able to turn on the webcam in the living room from a remote location? Are you planning an American Pie scene?

    Anyway, the only way it could be done is if you set up VPN access to the computer in your living room. This requires that both your PC and your laptop are under the same home network, and both computers are set to allow VPN connections.

    The simplest way to get this done is to have MSN Messenger activated on both computers, and request remote access to and from each other.

    I really want to know why you want this set up...is this Jason Briggs?

    thats what i thought, VPN would be the way to go.....

    As for the reason, i just like to be able to be able to check on my living room anytime :) - its my house!

    Normal webcams you can't but there are wireless Wcams that you can access and preview remotely :)
