I am looking for a decent way to make an iframe scalable for cell phones and tablets. I work for a restaurant and a 3rd party handles our online ordering and in order for us to show menus on the website we need to make an iframe of it pulling the information off of their page. The problem is, I am in the process or redesigning the webpage to make it responsive and iframes do not handle this very well. I can get the border around the iframe to scale down but not the iframe itself, is there any way to do this that I am missing or is it just not possible?
Found this, but it is focused on videos. You can try if it works with your embed site. But what I read on this matter..iframes can“t be responsive. The content you are iframing should also be responsive. But like I said you can try the instructions on this: http://andmag.se/2011/11/responsive-embeds/
Yea, I am pretty sure that it can't be done. I have been working on it for a couple days with no luck. Unfortunately the 3rd party we use does not have scalable pages.
We have a work around for this that we can do very quickly. For an example pull up Bandung Indonesian Restaurant in Madison, WI on your mobile. If you'd like more info visit geteatstreet.com. If you'd like to discuss, contact me at jeff at eatstreet dot com. All the best.
Since this is 2013 and not 1997, why are you using iframes? You know, that whole 'deprecated for fifteen years as inaccessible crap that has no business on a website" thing?!?
