I am wanting to advertise another website of mine on one of my sites. I wanted to do a site targeted CPM Adwords campaign. Can you run a site targeted Adwords on your own Adsense site? I know what you are thinking! Why would you want to spend money advertising on your own site!? The reason is because I want the ads to be consistant across the site. Any ideas?
Yes you can do it and Google certainly will not complain in charging your dollars from your credit card today and send you just a few cents after months.
Google says you can't do it, the reason being that you would be inflating the price for anyone else running a CPM on your site - it's like shill bidding on ebay where you are bidding on your own item - since you would be getting back much of what you paid via adsense.
This makes sense - But I could not find no reference to this in Adwords or Adsense Program Policies documentation. Could you please point us to this reference?
There was a thread about this 3 or 4 months ago - so I asked my adwords rep and I was told anything to artificially inflate the price the advertiser pays is against the TOS. You could email them and ask for conformation, but here is the reason. Advertiser #1 bids $10 to target your site. Advertiser #2 bids $3 Advertisers 1 & 2 pay $3 and $3.01. Site owner bids $11 and increase Advertiser #1's cost to $10. Site owner gets back most of the $11 he paid because he owns the other site (less googles cut) and is getting $10 instead of $3.01 for advertiser #1. This is for CPM, not advertising your site with PPC adwords - which is certainly allowed.
Yes this makes sense due you can bid your own site just for an certain period for inflating it. as soon other bid more to get more traffic, you can stop bidding your self and let it go. Probably they decided to do not left it clearly noticed in TOS to do not give the idea to site owners to do it - this is kind of fraud is very hard to track due involve two different accounts (1 Adwords & 1 Adsense). thanks mjewel for bring us something new.
PPC you can not target sites. Why not use some kind of rotating banner script? you would not need to pay nothing to nobody.
The idea was to keep the ads that are running all the same. I will have to make a banner that looks like an Adsense ad and rotate it on the site I guess. Does anyone know what font is used for Adsense?
You can! Google AdSense even highlights a case study of Woot doing this exact same thing. https://www.google.com/adsense/static/en_US/Woot.html
