Hello, I have a site that's been up for a bit now, but the traffic is pretty thin. Could you take a quick peek and let me know what you think? I'd welcome any feedback. Thanks for your help! http://www.openenglishworld.com
simple quick answer get some more content on there if i was looking to learn english i certainly would`nt use your website
The site is good but use some good matter. I mean a good english. The best is that you can refer an english learning book. all the best.
Hmm, yeah the site itself is okay, but as a native English speaker some of what you're teaching seems a little off. Eg. "The sad drama movies that make me cry." seems to at best be a fragment and that was just the first page I looked at.
Hello, the colors and stuff looks good, but it looks like a site which is being built. I think you need to add a lot of materials that students can refer when they need to. Like "passive voice," "reported speech," "present perfect tense," and stuff like that which will take a lot of your time to prepare them first. Do you have any idea how you are going to do that? I really want to know. I am also preparing a site but I have no time or patience to write tons of pages to put them there for help. How are you going to do that?
Is this me or what. But pretend your not english (in case you are). You got to learn english which means, its highly likely you arent going to be able to read english. Therefore making it in languages other then english but with english translations would help
Pretty nice design, I would definitely add in more content in the content area since it looks plain. For the header, maybe add a gradient at the bottom of the bar ?
Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback! I actually have quite a bit of content, but do you think I should be making it all available/linked from the front page? Right now I show 5 random links to content at the very top, and if you use the side menus you can see all of it. Maybe a first time visitor is going to think the 5 links are the only stuff there is. Hm. Is your thought that I should put some of the full content on the front page too? Maybe a random content item on the front page instead of just a link? Or a series of say 5 random content items on the front page? Also, as far as the goals of the site, I'm not trying to be the end all be all soup to nuts site for learning English. That would be a bit daunting. I'm trying to provide short, bite sized activities focused on spoken English, with new content published every week or so. I'm considering ideas for getting the content created too. I'm thinking I could find someone to bang out a lot of Idioms or Jargon articles (they're typically 50-100 words tops) and get the .mp3 recordings as well. Any thoughts on a good avenue to pursue those? Again, the feedback is much appreciated!
I had a look at your site, it looks very professional. The positioning of the 2 adblocks is perfect. Schöne Seite, ich hätte nicht gewusst dass es sowas gibt. Viel Glück damit.
Just a bit of follow up. Since changing around my AdSense block to have one link block across the top and two side by side text blocks in the middle, my AdSense conversion rate has gone from under 1% to over 6%.
The english seems a bit complicated for a beginner if that was the goal, and at first glance it seems completly in english. And I can't get the accentuated characters to display correctly in both Firefox and Internet Explorer 6 (French versions), you may want to look into that.
True, the site is totally in English, but there is a series of flag buttons in the upper left that will use Google to translate between languages. As a result, you can toggle back and forth between languages while on an activity. Of course it's not a perfect translation, but hopefully helpful...
Mesoc, any specific suggestions to grab attention? As the people visiting the site are not fluent in English, I'm trying to keep the number of words down.
