I'm just barely getting back into the website world and I was curious if you really can make a living off the money that you can earn from things like Google Adsense or PPC programs. I know there are HUGE sites that make tons of money, I'm just curious.
You cannot make a living off those money (unless you have great high traffic websites) They just help you getting bear and chicken for you
How much traffic would be considered high traffic? I'm still learning about the AdSense thing, I did some reading in the AdSense forum about niche and filters and all that junk. I guess I'll learn it time, but it's amazing how things work now. I can't wait to get my website up and running.
Around 1k uniques/day can be called a high traffic. But no such criteria though.. You have to learn a lot and implement them in various ways.
Earning from PPC or any kind of ad setup is a very handy money spinner. I would personally never rely on it as my primary source of income because it is short term... mainly because you don't really have control, the ad network does. I use it as secondary source of income and it comes in very handy.
The quality of the traffic determines how much you will earn. I would rather have 1k visitors to a professional related subject, then 15k visitors to a joke / arcade website.
It all depends on niche and quality of traffic. 100 high quality uniques a day can earn more than 100,000 low quality uniques.
You can make really good money with PPC. I do not have much experience with Adsense so I can not really comment on that. The key as checksum pointed is getting high quality traffic. You can check my sig for info or just PM me if you need more info. stavra
I really need to learn Google AdSense before I sign up, because I hear a lot of good and bad things about it. Anyone know of a good resource where I can learn more about it? Where I don't have to pay just to learn about it, because I read Google's thing, but it's still fairly vague and you guys seem to know more about it than Google does. Thanks, Tim

Yeah people can make mad money with Online Marketing, rather quickly compared to other fields. The thing though is that there are so many fields within online marketing. YOu have to find one that you like and you can be passionate about. After that, it's happy sailing after a period of really hard work. There is a steep learning curve, but definitely doable. you can really make money online. i have seen cheques that are more then 900K from google. That's almost close to a million
I'm just looking to have fun on my website, if it makes money great, if not. I have a pretty decent job. The key though, fun and learning about all that.
^^Yes that's how I started too and signed up for adsense.. I used to get around 30 uniques per day in my early days but I slowly learned how to optimise my site and what content to post.. I get around 300 uniques now.. When my exams get over I am sure I can take that upto 1k uniques
