I did great on Amazon in my first month with a new niche site - 12 sales through Amazon Affiliates for $58. I also made $16 from CJ, and a whopping $2.57 from Adsense. Now I plan on making a new niche site every month with the goal of making $1,500 in December.

My blue print:

1) Find Niche With Decent Consumer Interest But Low Competition
2) Don't Sell Hard
3) Provide Useful, Original Information Even If There Is No Immediate Payoff
4) Use Multiple Sites
5) One Way or Another, Get Them to Amazon Via Your Links

BlogsAboutCrap (you don't post about crap! haha!) makes a great point. You have to make good, compelling content. Why else would someone want to visit your site? And why otherwise would search engines put you up the rankings?

Offer something useful - advice, comparisons, reviews or even just tidied up product information (there is a lot of messy information on Amazons products) - and you will get visitors and sales.

@freshdevelopment , you say you must have great top notch compelling content when you will make money with amazon.
But top notch written content when you must outsource it,it's an huge expensive investment.You spend moneyevery month, perhaps a year when your sites are finished and then you make money it is worst of time, after a year you must write new product reviews for new another amazon products- products are not live forever.

For high ticket items I think you will need a 800-1000 word long product review thats not so cheap, when you have a little budget you can only build micro sites with 3-5 pages.
When you will sell cheaper amazon items , I think product reviews 250 words long will be adequate, with a low budget there you can build monthly 1-2 niche bigger sites who has 10 or 20 pages.

@arunita; you say your friend makes 10k monthly with amazon, how they make that?
with big sites with 100 pages or small mini-micro sites only with high ticket items? with long or short product reviews?

Erica Stone,(make 10k with amazon) says she promoted not more than 3-5 products on a site.
