Can you rank for searches using the AND operator?

I saw someone trying to SEO his site for the phrase: Ghana AND Jewelry.
Does this mean that a site with that title would rank above other sites about ghana and jewelry....

Little complicated, but if anybody's going to understand this question, it's other webmasters

Unless the search has quotes around it, Google will ignore the word and.

    Hi !!

If the search query is quoted like "Ghana AND Jewelry" in this case he might get the benefit of AND operater.
And remember that some search engines give slight weightage to common words but google doesn't.

He can't force a link between jewelry and ghana where none exists, if that's what he's trying to do. He can score high for ghana jewelry, which is what google will interpret "ghana AND jewelry" as anyway.

I guess the question is though what he's trying to accomplish. Is the jewelry FROM ghana? Is he selling it IN ghana? Is Ghanaian jewelry so popular that people will even search for it, or is he better off trying to bite off a chunk of "african jewelry"?
