I'm thinking twice about doing this as I've read some publishers getting banned when they promote their site thru MySpace bulletins.
Go make your own profile, be really funny and chatty and make thousands of friends. Then message them with your link.
I dunno how true it us but in some cases i read it happend in, they seen there earnings go from like $30 a day to like hundreds per day and in 1 or 2 cases $1,000 for one days earnings and there account was flaged and banned.
It's all about letting it go over time. If you're going to promote, don't go make 5,000 friends and bulletin them all a bunch and drive crazy traffic to your site overnight. Google doesn't like things happening all at once, it seems, it's a gradual road. Promote to a few, then a few more, then a few more, over time, and you stand less chance of getting banned, I think. Additionally, if you do expect a large traffic spike from new tactics, it doesn't hurt to email Google about it in advance with a "Hey, I'm planning to do a lot of site promotion in the near future and expect to see an accordingly higher amount of traffic blah blah" kind of email. Ultimately it's about not doing too much too fast.
This is pretty much my main way of promoting. My traffic before myspace was probably at like 20 unique visitors a day ( i know, sad, I'm just starting out lol ) and went to about 700 uniques on the day I added friends through myspace, now I'm about at a steady 100-200 a day. I have about 1561 friends or something like that and post a bulletin twice daily with a "quote of the day". I get a decent amount of traffic, I would probably get alot more if I tried harder to get friends, its just such a boring process to sit there and add people. Plus , my site isn't really complete yet, so I don't want to promote it any more then I do now untill its 100%. Edit: Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but my site isn't a blog or anything like that, its a site similar to quotegarden.com and wisdomquotes.com, though I'm trying to seperate myself from those sites as well by going a little bit further with my ideas.
I'd be curious as to how much of those visiters are directly from myspace visiters for statistcal purposes.
Well . . I use statcounter to track my stats lol, and IMO its not the most acurate thing, but it gives me an idea. Based on what I see daily, I would say about 40 people a day come to my site from myspace, whether it be from a bulletin I post, my actual myspace page, or a topic I made in a forum.
Myspace can be great promotion. As long as you dont get a huge increase in earnings overnight I dont see why google would ban you
could the only reason adsense ban's you be because of the traffic spike? or could it be from someone reporting you to google?
