I was searching for something the other day, and a forum post was ranking number 3 on the first page of Google! I don't know how they managed to appear on the first page, because the majority of pages that ran are websites or blogs. So do you know guys how to optimize forums? Is it even possible to use the SEO technics that we use for websites and blogs? Thank you in advance!
I may be wrong, but if a forum topic has keywords, the topic is relevant for discussion and there are constantly new posts, then Google indexes this topic and you can see it in the search.
As far as i know some forum scipts have very well written paid SEO plugins. Never used any of them but ive been reading some articles time ago.
It actually makes sense this is how Google's algorithm works, but it's just I'm so used to actual web pages ranking on the top pages lol. Thank you for sharing
Building SEO into your threads and pages is done with the specific aim, of course, to drive traffic to your website, which in turn will increase sales. But it also helps the people who need this information find you easier.
SEO is not something that will take effect overnight or sometimes even in months depending on the market.. you have to keep applying and get creative, it has worked for us -- but it's not a set and forget sort of thing, you have to keep making changes and updates. Remember don't get greedy and always practice good SEO habits, otherwise you'll land yourself in trouble.
As mentioned, SEO is built-in with any modern forum script. There can always be tweaks done. What forum script are you running? Also, "on-page SEO" is only half of what's important. You also need to make sure that your "off-page SEO" is stronger than your competition.
I agree with you about off-page SEO it's not enough to deal with one piece of the puzzle, you need to perfect everything as much as you can. I don't have a forum I've just been wondering about it Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
