For the whole trusting the online casino thing, as long as you choose a good site, you will not have a problem. Some of the good ones are PokerStars (pokerstars.com), FullTiltPoker (fulltiltpoker.com), and Bodog (bodoglife.com). I know PokerStars (pokerstars.net) and FullTilt (fulltiltpoker.net) offer software were you can play 100% for free and even earn some money without risk. "Jesus", a famous professional poker player, got some publicity when he decided to play at FullTiltPoker's free tables with $0 and ended up earning upwards of $10,000. I am sure with a lot of practice you will be able to make some money, but don't expect to pull a stunt like the one I just described. Jesus is a profession poker player with years and years of experience. I consider him the best player on earth due to his super-accurate ability to calculate odds on the spot. In the end my whole point is that poker can be fun to play, especially fun when there is money involved, but don't count your rent payment on poker. Instead, play it for what it is: a game.
no I think you will lose your money with poker . calculate the probability of erning and the probability of lose . and you will see that in more than 95 % of case you will lose money .
Poker is Game of skill with factor of luck About house winnings , think like You host your own youtube paying every 1$for video and pay 1000$month for bandwith (just examples) without any income. Who wants do that ? Then about poker. You can earn with online poker but to reach that level you need play like 1-3 years if you ask me. Myself i play online poker. Not quite good at it and i often lose by stupid mistakes. If you want start playing poker myself i would consider those 0.05$ tables or find some pokerroom wich has 1$ sit'n go or even lower and start practising. when you gain skill you can move to higher games. The pros went that way to and they are ordinare people. 1 finnish poker pro was car sales man few years ago. So in short term You can make money playing poker but need gain some skill and experience first with lower games and move upwards when you think you can play that level.
I have seen many guys lossing in playing online poker and offline too . I will says its better to invest in stock market we know we will get few bucks back if we are in loss .
Ok, I'm a poker player, and poker coach (as a sideline). I live in Las Vegas, where I can get a cash game for almost any stakes at any time I want. I can also play on the net, at any one of the good, legitimate, online sites whenever I want also. Here's what I've done, since my wife suggested that I take up the game. Got a copy of Doyle Brunson's SuperSystem at a garage sale Got a copy of Mike Caro's book on reading tells Got a copy of Phil Gordon's books, all of them except the little blue book. Got a copy of Phil Helmuth Jr's book with Joe Navarro on tells Read all of them. Went to a casino and watched the game being played from the rail for almost a year. Took 200.00 down to the casino and entered a single re-buy 6 hour tournament. Lost 130.00 on the tournament. Took 200.00 to a 1-2 no limit cash game, won 400.00 for about 3 hours of play etc. Currently I'm up about 1800.00 and I'm happy (mostly) with my play. Been watching and analyzing and playing online for about a year now. started with 1K play money on fulltiltpoker and I'm at about 28K now. Took the matching offer and started with 200.00 in real money at fulltilt, been playing about 2 months on the low priced no limit tables, and I'm at 600 dollars. To answer your question. Yes, it's possible to win at online poker, but you need to understand the game first. Don't think you can read some guy's online ebook and make 20K tomorrow.. not that you can't, just that the odds are really long on that, and if you want to make that a bet, I'll take at least 3 to 1 on it.. Get at least the books I listed, or borrow them from a library and read them. Get a couple of the good poker training video's and watch them. I recommend Phil Gordon's Final Table Poker video... It's a great course in tells and odds and strategy. just my $.02 worth. YMMV
you can make alot of money playing poker online but you can also loose alot of money....if you cant controll yourself i sugest you stay away from gambling, even though you think you will be able to control yourself int he end you will just keep wanting to spend more and more...
I've played online poker at several sites, some of them are just total scams (for example: one site in particular owes me over $500 and refuses to pay out) others are partial scams, you win for a while then can't hit nothing or they run their own poker bots to 'beat' you, then there are sites like pokerstars that the RL pro's (that you see on the telly) play at.. stick with them and you should be ok scamwise (but the standard of play is a LOT higher). Overall, my total profits from online poker amounts to about $4000, and I would call myself an average player. If you're less than average then you are more likely to win nothing and lose money unlike the better players who win $00000's a year. I always played for fun, never as a serious attempt at money making. So if I lost, well it didn't matter. If I won, it was a bonus. My xmas pressie to myself last year was a dell laptop paid for from my poker winnings, and I had a couple of nice weekends away at poker tourneys also paid for by my winnings aswell as having a few hundred bucks in the bank. Play because you enjoy playing, not because you want to win money. That's when the problems start...
I play texas holdem online in cash games every now and then, and the longer you stay in your seat, the more you're giving money in the rake. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But the house ALWAYS wins. I'll make my own poker site if i had enough money, that's for sure.
I am no poker player as I am not too into gambling. I do however have a friend that makes his income solely by playing poker. He is a very bright guy and would frequently bring in a few thousand in a single day. Though he would have to play a 12 hour tournament or something ridiculously long.
I play at sit n go's. With 18 players it won't be too long before the final table. Of course the amount of buy-in is higher with few players in the tournament to have a decent pot worth playing for.
I know a few people who do it either as a main or good second income. There's enough offers out there with reputable companies to play for very low money (and some good opening offers, free money etc.) to enjoy it without having to lose a lot. Play to your limits, don't spend what you can't afford to lose and you'll be fine. Some of the free games (or even poker on Facebook) are good places to start if you're wanting to learn the ropes before you start playing for money.
Based on your typing and grammar skills...you aren't smart enough to be a half decent poker player. You may as well make a topic called "Can you make money playing professional football?" The answer to both questions is "yes" - but only if you are incredibly talented at football (or poker as the case may be).
that's harsh, dlm.. poker isn't about literacy it's a game of skill although being able to calculate odds does come into it so less than average mathematical skills will put you at a disadvantage.
If you are highly skilled and in it for long term, you can offline. Online, you're competing against computers and people you can't see. Don't count on it for steady or any income.
I'm a professional online gamer, and I've moved away from playing online poker for money. I play on a site where there are games of skill, and luck plays a minimal role in who wins -- the better player will almost always win. I'm clearing 4 figures a month off skill gaming, and I own a site that has tutorials and tips on most of the games to give people an edge. Check out http://www.cashgamers.net and browse around if you're interested. If you want to take a shot at the games, click on "Start Winning Money" and you can try the games 100% free.
No doubt you can win money. I have a friend making a living from this. I on the other hand, lost about 500 bucks online
Just an advice from someone who lost hundred of bucks on online casinos: stop playing. =) By the way, if you want to make money with gambling you have to play real life blackjack, roulette (hardly impossible in america, but possible in europe) or poker.
