I did a research on gambling once, you can't win the casinos when it comes to gambling, a lot of things are psychological in nature. Believe me, casinos online or offline employed all of these tricks and more. You may win a bit in the beginning, but statistically the longer they kept you there, the more chances you are going to end up being a loser and they do have their ways of keeping you glued to your computer until you lost everything. It is not just a matter of skills, against multi billion casino operators, you don't stand a chance.
this holds true for games where we play against the house.. not for poker... for poker its always u against the other players in the table..
"...an idiot ... dumbass" — Wow, pretty strong language for a friendly thread. • You bet $5 at the track, the track takes 15%, and you are competing against the rest of the bettors for the rest of the money that was bet. • You invest $5 in an online poker game, the site owner takes a 10% fee, and you are competing against the rest of the gamblers for the rest of the money that was bet. Sounds pretty similar to me. Why the tirade?
Maybe he is in a bad mood. For me I take a stance against gambling, whether it wins money or not is secondary. It is just a personal thingy to me.
Gambling is a thing I hate... I hate losing money for nothing... (don't tell me you are always a winner..)
No good forum ethics to do self promotion in an area where the discussion should be about General Business.
I never think i can earn big from gambling. Only the gambling site owner are winning big or the gambling site will down, correct me if i'm wrong
So what's wrong that? Atleast you can earn money there without gambling a single cent. Playing is different from gambling. Play don't gamble. If your playing you will earn money, but if your gambling your winning not earning it.
If you know how to play poker then I'm sure you can make money with it, but if you have to ask this question that's probably not the case. Go play for free to learn the game, then if you like it and you're good at it start playing for real money.
Yes, you can earn playing in poker, if you have the cold head. Also if you have a friendly partner you can get big money or big problems. he he
As you call me a jerk? Ha - point is 8 of 10 in this thread are clueless, especially the guy comparing it to horseracing. I guess I'm on a four year luck streak, making my living from playing poker and all- "beating the house" OP, again - it takes lots of learning and tens of thousands of hands of experience, plus some math, and you can win consistently. It's the ONLY form of gambling where you can through your own knowledge get your money in as an 80% favorite to win, where as even blackjack card counters best hope is to swing the edge to 52% endfreakingthread.
That is what happens in horse racing, despite your scoffing at my comment as ignorance. You put up your $5 for a ticket, the track (the "house") takes its fee, which in my day was 15%. Then you are betting against the rest of the bettors for the remaining pool of money.
Your argument is pointless because you cannot convince another better to give up his bet to you in horse racing, nor can you verifiably get your bet in as a 82% favorite to win or even a 100% favorite to win now can you?
Well you never know, The people who made the poker would of had of tested it ^^ so they would of got "paid" to test it if you know what i mean ^^
The math is simple. Enter the poker game you described for $5. Pay your 50 cent fee, and you've already discounted the value of your investment in the game by 10%. You need to win back $5.50 just to break even — that is, you need to consistently surpass "break-even" poker playing by 10% just to break even and get your investment back. Very few people will consistently play 10% better than all the others. The pros will (and you may be one of those), but the vast majority of players enter the game at the outset with a 10% financial disadvantage using the numbers of your realistic example. That's what I and some others mean when we say that the percentages are always against you, whether it be online, in casinos, or at the race track. So "can" you make money in online poker? Of course. Will you? Most will not.
