Can yo make money playing poker online? I see people sel;ling these ebooks that teach you how to win big. If I go to an online casino and start playing, can I earn big or will I more likely loose big? Please DO NOT PM me affiliate links to poker sites
Poker , in addition to roulette is more a skill game rather than just luck. Normally if you are an amateur your chances to win are pretty low so what I strongly recommend you is , just play with virtual money or fun mode until you get enough experience , then try to play and practice offline with your friends and when you feel its the right time to play online , invest small amounts like 50 or 100 dollars
This may sound rude, but get a job instead of playing online games for money. Yeah, there are some chances that you could make big bucks, but unless your a poker pro, then you'll make close to nothing over the internet.
Depending on where you live, the USA for example, it may be illegal to play in online casinos. As others have stated I think your time would be better spent working to provide something of value to people so that they will be interested in doing business with you. I forget who said this but it is very good advice: "The amount of money you make is directly related to the problems you solve for others." Sure beats trying to get lucky playing poker or the slots or some other chance game.
Of course you can win money.. thats why people play. TO give you an idea, i been playing for 3 years and just considering myself decent. THere are a lot talented people out there.. making money from poker is not as easy as the ebook makes it to be
Simple answer is yes.. you can make money playing poker online but other will make more money out of you..
Usually I don't trust online pokers. I believe there's always a manipulation on the software codes so that the chances of the site operator winning is much greater.
Yes you can win BIG!!!! Friend of mine won $10,000 so far from a $100 buy in. He recommend playing small table game like 5 cent blinds and ALWAYS LOOK FOR high paying tournaments that Less then 200 people are in...its rare but they are out there.
Take it from a reformed, former gambler (horses). The house/track/casino always wins. Let me illustrate by using the race track. Let's say a million dollars are bet on the horses in the fourth race. The track takes its cut (let's say 15% for our example) and pays out the rest to the win, place, and show tickets. So on that hypothetical race, the track took in $1,000,000 in bets. They kept their $150,000 share and paid out the remaining $850,000 to be split among the winning tickets. Bottom line? With the track taking their cut (here, the estimated 15%), your $2 bet is immediately worth only $1.70 and you have given the track 30 cents. If you go to the track often enough, facing those odds, you will lose more days than you will win. The same principles apply to online poker, casinos, etc. The "house" will always have the percentages in their favor, which means in your disfavor! So can you make money in online poker? Of course, especially if you're Daniel Negreanu or a similar pro. But will you make money? Not likely. You will most likely lose over the long haul. But if you're in it just for the "entertainment value", then it's your choice to have fun that way. But don't count on it being a lucrative pastime over the long run. P.S. Just a personal reflection — I recommend against getting involved. I recall how years ago betting the horses got into my blood. I became hooked — not fully addicted, but drawn back to the track repeatedly. To this day if I drive by a race track, I can feel that "pull" towards it. But I learned my lesson and have stayed away for the past 40 years or so.
you people clearly don't understand how poker sites make money, you play other players not the house. if you dont know anything about poker don't post stupid answers, you only look like fools and give bad advice
I think you clearly don't. The house ALWAYS make more then its top payouts. Otherwise it wouldn't be in business.
you are an idiot, the house charges FEES - yes they make a profit (of course) but you are not playing the house, dumbass. For example, a $5 tournament costs $5 +.50 entry fee, the house makes the .50 but you are playing against the players for the pool. Go use google or something, because your making anyone who reads this thread less educated on the subject and not more. OP - yes, play better than the players you play against and overtime you will be a consistent winner.
Ok, I don't know squat about poker but I'm going to post anyway. I was doing some random google'ing yesterday and found many sites talking about PokerBots. These are sophisticated programs that can go undetected by the casino and play your hands for you. One of these bots can even network with your friends at the same table so that you can tell each other what cards you have. Taking this into consideration there is no way I would just mosey on in and take a place at an online table unless I had all the angles covered.
sure.. the house makes more than its payouts.. but the house aint paying the winner from its bank.. the winner gets the money from other players.. the house stays in the business from the fee (usually a fixed amount based on the stake of the table) they charge to let the player sit on the table.. the more the players, the more the house makes.. to answer the original question of whether poker can generate money.. well yes.. it can.. opposed to many other gambling games, winning a poker hand needs skill and of course the angel on ur side.. but the angel cant help u unless u r skilled at reading the betting patterns and remember how each player played his hands.. online poker makes it tougher as u cant see the person or that little drop of sweat on his forehead when he bets $1000 with a hand worth throwing.. do not go by any online pdf on poker which guarentees u success.. if u r considering poker seriously go to ur next book shop and get urself a copy of the 'Super System' by poker legand Doyle Brunson. Read it thrice.. go to a free money table (i dun know any online casinos that wont allow free tables.. all have it.. so go for the one who has lotsssssssss of members to have a tougher challenge).. start playing there using brunson's strategy.. stick to it for a month or so.. and if u have made more play chips than u had invested in during this period.. the answer for u is YES, you can make money playing poker.. and yes.. one tip.. never have any emotional strings attached to ur money on a poker table.. u loose money.. u get out of their asap.. don't be a hero and stay and say 'i can win it all back'.. the money aint ur girl friend.. u can loose it.. its just not ur day
