I'm sure there are people that do extremely well, but I would imagine that would require a ton of work, years of building the site, and constant new content.
Not if you are planning to promote iphone accessories. Try to sell stuff that cost at least 50$. If possible even for much more. I agree with @Phooey, it takes a long time and a lot of work before you have enough traffic and site portfolio. I also think, that is not too smart working with just one affiliate program. If you get banned for what ever reason, you will loose everything. If you'll work with amazon, try to mix it with other programs. Also take a look at cj.com where they have merchants like shop.com, buy.com,...
I think sites such as them 'Cashback' sites do well, there is a site which my friend uses and everything he buys the cashback site gets 50% commision and he gets 50% commision back, say he buys something off amazon for $600 commision is 5% he gets $30 or whatever, he gets $15 back so he gets the product $15 cheaper and the cashback site gets $15.... So this way, the guys running the cashback site are making a mint, they make money in there sleep So i think they must be making a living off Amazon
I think you should have multiple source of income regardless how successful you might be in one affiliate program.
you can do living off amazon it does not matter what you sell it all depends on traffic even with big ticket items it still takes alot of traffic as not everyone is willing to give 1-2-3-4-500 $ online
Yes, you need volume to make any money due to the graduated commission structure. For instance, it starts at a measly 4%, but when you hit 7 sales in a month, they up the commission to 6%, etc.
Excellent point, I totally agree. Never put yourself at the mercy of any one affiliate. At the mercy of anyone or anything for that matter....
You definitely can make a very good living just running Amazon Associate programmes. I have been doing it part time, as I'm employed fulltime, yet I still make enough to pay my car repayment and insurance. I still have enough left to buy the odd books. So, that goes to show that if I was working on it full time, I could make enough to get do whatever I want. -- Helen
I have seen people make a living selling things on Amazon, or on Amazon stores, but never seen anyone make a living just on affiliate income. I think if you do two of the three, you can do o.k.
I hear that people make tens of thousands of dollars a month from amazon affiliates. That suites me just perfect
I hope I can make living off amazon.. I just start to learn from many sources.. and thanks for sharing
Yes you can make a living from Amazon but you need to sell high ticket items. The sheer volume of sales required makes it very hard but there are affiliates out there who do very well.
To make a living with Amazon you'll either have to be selling something reasonably expensive or have an absolutely huge amount of traffic if you are selling less expensive items. I've been doing very well with Amazon lately, to the point where it's now my #1 money maker. But I don't rely on it entirely. The key like with any other affiliate program is targeted traffic, I use article marketing to drive my targeted traffic.
You could but you have to get tons of traffic and make tons of sales a month. I don't know anyone who survives on only Amazon Sales. Most use the Amazon affiliate program along with other affiliate programs.
I've reach the point where I can quit my day job and just leave off my Amazon earnings. It's not a lot, but it's a start and definitely achievable.
