    is there a way you can make a forum website like with phpbb and have a side page where you can post other stuff for people to browse

    If by "side page" you mean a sidebar area then you should be able to do that. Most of the usual forum scripts have that ability with addons, plugins, themes, etc.

    I haven't done it with phpBB but I have with myBB and the paid forum scripts so you should be able to.

    You are very welcome.

    I did a quick Google search and found that there are options for this but it would probably be best for you to explore since you know what you want exactly. There is some kind of addon called "Simple Sidebars" but I don't know how current it is because what I saw was dated a couple years ago. There should be other options if that is no longer used.
