Can you include anchor text in articles?

I have been learning how to submit articles online and just have a few questions.

    1. I have noticed that some of the article directories as for the body of the article to be submitted in both normal and HTML formats. For the directories that don't include an option for both should you submit it in HTML or Normal text?

    2. Can you include anchor text in the articles that you submit to the directories or do they just take it out?

    Thanks all!

Some directories will accept links in the body of the article but most will not.

Thanks you. So how do you know if they accept them or not?

Also, should you always default to submitting your text in Normal format or should you opt for HTML?

Just see other articles before you submit. Check if they have anchor text in body.

Also, if you can put more than one link, it can sometimes be beneficial to use the URL as the anchor text - that way, even if the person publishing the article strips out the actual link, your url may still be present, and most browsers can automatically turn an url into a clickable link.

You can certain use anchor texts in your articles for some directories but not for all.

Secondly if they do not give any option of html or normal text, you should submit it as normal and always remember to preview it before submitting article.

Easiest way to get around this is to put your links in the resorce section. Add a keyword based and URL based link. e.g:

    Hi

ALot of the directories will not allow you to post an anchor text in the body of the article. Some will let you do it in the About you at the bottom and some discourage it from all areas. Best to read the Tos and Help section before wasting your time on a directory.
I have used Pr leap. It is expensive but they allowed anchor text and it seemed to boost me for awhile. Make sure the site is allows followed links. That is crucial or you are wasting your time.
Also, when submitting to blogs etc, make sure the page you are submitting to is cached by google. Or you will not get any benefit!!! It is a mistake that will cost you time and money!!

Unless the article directory specifically asks for html formatting, submit the article as regular text. Out of the 200 or so article directories that I normally submit to, only about 10 of them require html formatting of the body text.

Most article directories do allow html code in the resource boxes. This is where you can include your keyword rich anchor text links. Most article directories allow you to include 3 such links per article. Make note of certain ones that only allow 1 or 2 links, or ones that require html-free resource boxes.

Each article directory has its own submission rules. You can read their submissions terms or you can just keep an eye on which types of submissions are being accepted. A lot of the more important rules are listed right on the article submission page.

I only use my links in the resource box when I write articles and yes, always use anchor text, but you will want to vary your keywords a little so it does not raise any red flags with Google.
