Hello Guys, I had let made a WP site but I wanted it to appear like a normal static website. That means, whenever I post a new article, I don't want it to appear on the frontpage but in its own category. How can I solve this? The site is: http://www.softwaredotnet.com/ on the left and on top u see the nav bar with the categories. how can I get rid of that "uncategorized" link? tried to delete or rename it without success. another problem: When I click on a category all the other posts are visible on the according subpage too. That shouldn't be the case because the CMS Software article was not posted in the "video software" category. I thank all who are willing to help. thanks and regards
Problem 1 :- Go to your Blog Admin Panel Click on Manage - Categories Un-tick or Del the Un-categorized. Problem 2 :- This is due to the Category Parent. When you write articles " Video Conversion Software " ↠Click on Video Software Category not the Un-categorized. Hope this helps.
thanks for your answers but i already did all this. the strange thing: i cannot delete "uncategorized" because there is no "delete" option appearing and an untick field is also missing! what is that the case?
uncatagorized is a default category. You don't want to delete it even if you could. You want to assign the post to a different category. What shoes on the homepage really depends on the template and layout. A simple way to create a small CMS is to NOT use posts. Instead use PAGES. Then use a template with dropdown navigation and assign the pages in a hierarchical structure. There are also ways to assign a specific post as the homepage and to remove category tabs from templates so they do not show. You just need to learn more about how templates work.
WordPress 2.7.1. strangely, I can rename it now. thanks ok, I tried that now. I wanted to have a category for "video software" and within this an article "video conversion software" but it didnt accept the folder "video software" in the section where you can add new pages and in the top where you can type the URL of the page. i wanted it that way: /video-software/video-conversion-software, however, wp left out the second "/". why does this happen? moreover, the new pages appear on the top nav section. what happens when it gets full? thanks for your help so far.
I think its the template problem , try change the theme to default n see if the problem sort out or not !
well, with the default the "pages" is not even visible. but at least there is not the category confusion. so, must be a coding problem. the nice thing is that the coder is not responding anymore for 2 weeks now. some coders need a better cms (customer management system)
