Can you help me with google.ru?

I have a really interesting question . I hope that some "Seo guru" would manage to answer. Well the problem is. For example i have a website and it has domain name www.xx123.ee. "EE" means the Estonian domain name. Well and the question is: Can i promote website with such domain name in the Google.ru for example? Would the same methods which we use for SEO in Google.com work? I mean all the directory submissions, article submissions because all those submissions are in English? Maybe you had some experience with promotion in google.ru or others....with different languages. I understand that for optimization i need to use the right domain name, but in this case i have to use Estonian domain name and promote it in the Russian Google. Any suggestions? Thank You.

 

I think it is a thing that let you just get half the result with twice the effort.
If you plan to promote your sites in Google.ru, choose a .com (or .net, .org) or a .ru domain name is a better choice.
If you register one .ee domain, then it is wiser to promote your site on Google.ee.

 

I am not a guru but I hope my answer would help. You can promote your Estonian domain in Google.ru without a real threat. Domain extension is not the all-in-all for seo and it will not be the end of the earth if you do not have .ru domain to promote in Google.ru.

However, even saying that I would recommend you prepare both time and budget at least 2x if you are really serious promoting them. You are competing with competitors from both that have .ru domain which cannot be deny for their advantage, you are also competing with competitors with generic domain name such as .com one, which is more chance to being listed in Google.ru more than your own one if you put only similar effort as them.

 

Generally speaking, you need to orient your SEO efforts on those sources also from Russia if you want to rank on Google.ru. Of course, having a country relative domain would also be helpful for ranking and traffic purpose since Google local search engine is also so popular these days.

if you want to rank high in Google.ru with your EE domain. you should do more efforts. you can do off page activities in sites which belongs to .RU. its really tough job. but you have to try your best.

 

maybe the site language can make a difference.. you might want to consider that one.

kOs123, the problem is indeed specific. First of all, the prerequisite is to have a russian content on your site, if you want to promote russian keywords.

Google.ru has a bit different (softer) algorithm than Google.com. Many tricks with links are accepted in .ru, while in .com they simply do not work.

Of course, all the articles submissions, press-releases blog posting, social bookmarks are working for .ru in the same way as for .com. The only difference - they should be russian. See the list of press-release .ru sites below. I would recommend to start from them.

Additional tip: find a possibility to add russian address on your site, and make hosting in Russia

First of all i would like to say thank you for sharing this list. Yes of course i will have content in Russian, as it obvious that i should use keywords in Russian , that's not a problem at all. I just didn't have any experience with such situation. I am just promoting one website in Estonia for one lawyer, but we also want to promote it in Russia, so we have to deal with google.ru firstly, and then yandex. I just don't know how does the off page optimization work exactly in this case. Well we will see. Thank You . Regards

 

As for the yandex, you will need to buy links on sape dot ru and make trust dot ru The last one is better cause you buy permanent links there.

 

Use russian directories and social networks!
