Did you have a written agreement with the person you made the script for?

Did it specifically say he could not resell it?

Adsense will not get involved in this type of matter.

If you write something original, it is automatically copyrighted, but you can also file an official copyright. http://www.copyright.gov/

I am a little unclear of what happend. Did you make a script and then sell it to this person, or did he hire you to program the script?

If he just bought a copy of script you had already made, he cannot sell it without your permission - but your option is really to sue him for infringement. If this was an article, it would be easier to get google involved.

If he hired you to write a script, and without any written agreement, he may be claiming that you were working for him and that he owns the rights to the script - thus he is the owner of the script and can do whatever he wants with it.

In the absense of an agreement (and it really should be written) that says the person does NOT have resell rights, you have nothing to support your position that he didn't. If he hired you to do some work, why should he automatically assume he couldn't resell it? It may have been clear in your mind, but it isn't something that can be automatically assumed.

I don't think there is anything you can do if this was the situation.

You should just put your terms in writing. You can state that the price you are quoting is for use on (x) website(s) owned by the buyer and that the script does not include resale rights.

You can also say if the buyer wants resell rights, the price of the script is going to be (x) a higher amount.

You should also make it clear if you intend to sell, or might sell, the script the buyer paid you to do for them. The buyer might not want to pay you to do a script that you are going to start selling to everyone else - every situation is different.
