Can you have too many words on a page?

    Hi guys,

Have tried searching for this on the forum but no luck.

I guess my question relates to the view that content is king. Can you have too much content on one single page?

I have taken the view that more content (relevant content using my keywords) can only improve SEO.

Some of my pages have about 3,500 words on them. I am careful to break this all up with suitable titles, graphics, internal links etc.

Here is an example of a 'big page'.

    Cost to Serve

So what's the verdict? Some people have recently told me that if you cannot read all the content without scrolling, you have too much. that sounds like rubbish to me.

Totally ok. I have 3 news websites ( 5-6 news on the front page) that range from 1500-3000 words with main keyword density ~2% all are on the 1-3 google SERP.

I would say that the length of that page is fine, most of my posts are about 1000 words in length.

When writing longer posts, just try to keep what your talking about as relevant as possible and as you do, include relevant heading, breaks etc.

    It's fine.

It's never too much. If there are over 3500 words of article, just break it up into different posts and then use anchor text to link them up together. Much better than having a single 3500 words article on a page.

it's ok and it's never too long. But.... it is not optimized.
Take your content and optimize it. you will do much better.
Just to give you a direction on what i mean, use a main subject + under that a page for each sub-subject
Like a parent with children and grand-children

there is no limit to the length of the page, but if you keep repeating the same word over and over again that could look spammy, so try to have the right keyword density

it depend on your niche. If it require a detail then the content has to be big. still focus should be on content. basically People don't like to read a huge content. thats also is there

Site with rich content is not problem for SE. but browsers will face problem to read. If little and attractive content tempt viewers to read. So for SE dont worry will be +ve result.

Your page is absolutely fine. There is no matter of 3500 or 5000 words untill you are presenting the good information in a proper manner with the help of images, paragraph breaks etc. as you have done. As long as improve SEO is needed, you can use your primary keywords and keyword phrases in your article, but don't do that too much otherwise search engine will treat it as spam....

I wouldn't repeat your keywords more than 4-7 times per page. You should bold them too.

In a 3,000 word page it would be bloody hard ! :) What about keyword density? That would only be 0.2 % density
