can you guide me on this issue

I have some idea in my mind. I want to modify some of the proxy templates that are available on internet, say this
http://www.freeproxytemplates.com/phproxy-template-8/

Can I modify it and can I sell it such templates then.
please guide me on this issue. I am ready to keep the link instact.

OR

Can I modify it and add my link with other promo links and sell it or give it away for free

if not you cant change it to green and sell it as your own

 

First of all why are you trying to take someone's template . Try to learn how he/she has done it and then make your own. It will help you as well and you will have all the rights to the template and can sell on your own as well but modifying someone'e template will make your name bad in the market

You can't sell something that is available for free - even if it has been modified. If you are using someone elses template as any kind of basis, you would need to obtain resale rights from the owner. Depending on the site, you might be able to modify it and give it away, but you would always need to leave the original links in place (though you could add your own). Again, you'd need to check each site as they may not allow you to distribute modified work for free (away from their site).
With regards to that particular template, you are welcome to make any modifications you want. However, you cannot charge for it. If you distribute it, you must place a link back to us on the download page. The original links in the footer, must also remain. Any violation here is a breach of copyright.
As for other template sites, you would need to check their terms but I am pretty sure that most wont allow you to resell templates in the way you want to. Your best bet is to contact the owners of sites that have templates that you want to use, and put your ideas to them, and they may make an arrangement with you or permit certain things.
An example is proxydesigner.net - who have altered template 8. They have a link to us on the download page, and all of the footerlinks have remained intact. Please contact me if you are proposing to use any of my templates.

 

thanks for the guide guys, I have cleared up my mind. I am totaly new to CSS and want to make some templates to get some links. .
So instead of modifying the original template, I will create my own (totaly new) and sell it. thanks for the guide, it was really helpful for me to understand the copywrite laws
