Just wondering on people's opinions...can you get to PR6 for free? Has anyone here done it?
The highest site ive got is only PR4, so im trying to learn a bit more about SEO. Anyway, unless you have a really amazing site, surely its impossible to get PR6 without buying links?

Lots of directory submissions. I wonder what the highest PR anyone's gotten just by submitting to free directories.

Yes. It is possible. You just need a help of few good friends whose websites are PR6 or above & exchange links with them on high PR pages.

Good backlinks and proper SEO for your site. Most of my site is a PR6. I went from PR0->PR6 within 6 months with a little marketing and strategic link placement.

Build links. You do not have to have pagerank 6 or above links to obtain a pagerank of 6. They help but are not necessary.

    thats not quite true.
he had to spend on press releases to get the ball rolling.

..although i don't think he paid for any backlinks as such :D

I have had several pr6 sites. Its very easy almost simplistic. Most people try to hard and worry about getting as many links as possible.

    The secret

    Limited outgoing links
Get at least 5 pr 6 sites to link to you
Add your site to google only after you have those links.
within 6 months you are a magical pr6

What do you mean by this? As soon as you have 5 PR6 links you'll probably be crawled/added by Google within 24 hours assuming the links are from different sites..

Ive managed to get one of my sites to PR 6 quite quick and for free but i do work with SEO, recip links and also make sure your pages are seo driven i guess would be best advise, and alot of it is down to luck i think also...
Get your sites submitted to directroes and also search engines build your traffic up and yes it can be obtained, I also did one site with no links from any sites higher than a pagerank 4. That though i think was an error and i was lucky my pagerank stayed :)

    PR depends on links.

You can get it for free of course but I think you still need some effort/hardwork to get that ranking to move. If you want to get your PR up, you'll want sites with high PR to want to link to your site.

    :)

Totally agree to that. I link to loads of places and still have a strong PR6 on my page.

People who try to avoid passing PR are just amateurs and they are actually hurting their site.
