is it possiable to get enough traffic using ppc to make good money it just seems like it will cost to much, or do u need to be in the main search engine to get that much traffic?
Google adds are not worth the effort and will cost you a small fortune and you will get no return, FACT! been there done it. Waste of time. This is why you see just a tone of free money off coupons from Google to entice you to get into it. You start a campaign with one of those £50 - $50 vouchers and with in a week or two you end up with a hugh bill from them, and no extra sales. Be warned DON’T DO IT!
What you need to understand is that PPC is a form of advertising. In itself, advertising does not make you money. It is the carrot that gets people to your store or in the online world, your site. If you do a bad job convincing people to visit, you won't be as successful. Unfortunately, most people do a bad job because they don't understand advertising. They also understand less about search engines and that's why you get people like TTFN saying it's not worth it. It's like saying it's impossible to hit a round baseball with a round bat because I can't do it. Yet, there are some people who can do it because I see players do this every day. They have the know-how and talent which can be learned. By the same token, I have had dozens of clients who are doing PPC successfully. I either manage it all for them or show them how it's done. You can hire someone to do it or, if you want to do it yourself, you must educate yourself first. Plenty of resources out there for that, some free. Also, once they get to your site, you have to convince them to buy. That's the other side of the coin. If you don't do that well, you won't be successful. Those who are successful are those which do both well. Think of an ad for whatever product. Sounds good and you visit the store. But if the store doesn't have what you want (they said they have brand X but only have brand Y), or anything else wrong (rude clerk, dirty) you might not buy and leave. Same with your site.
I second "Lucid Web Marketing" comment. I worked with quite a few clients too that most of their sales rely on traffic through Adwords campaign. If done correctly you can startup your own small business and be profitable through Adwords. One thing you need to look at is what kind of products you are selling. For certain business you may expect 1 sales through 100 visitors through Adwords campaign. If each click cost you average $0.5. Each sale through Adwords will cost you $50. If your profit margin for each sale is higher than that, then you are making money. Prepare yourself a small budget like $1000 ~ $5000 to try out. That way you can get enough data to see if Adwords is for you. Make sure to have Google Analytics code installed on your web-site as well and link to to your Adwords account. You will get data necessary to optimize your campaign.
In any marketing expect to use about 10-20% of your total sales revenue as a marketing budget. Agree with ImperialDirectory and LucidWeb, AdWords is great. Also agree with TTFN - when used incorrectly GAW can bankrupt you. We have several small campaigns that generate very focused leads (about 10-20/day) to the tune of $1-2 per lead. These aren't huge, but overall ROI is turning a big profit on Adwords generated leads. We also run the same campaign on Bing - seeing similar results (but the CPL is about $2-3). You will have to run tests on each PPC network to get the best bang for your buck. AdWords reliance can kill people. Spread it out a bit and enjoy building your ROI without cutting your safety net. Diversify ad spend based on your target demographic and you'll reap the rewards.
It’s important to closely monitor source and keyword conversions through conversion tracking. Begin optimization practices around what is working for you. Let’s say you have one or two keywords taking up most of your budget, but they don’t really seem to be producing any results. With enough conversion data collected, it’s best to remove these keywords from your campaign so you can focus your budget on other terms. Make sure whatever search engine you’re working with has some type of fraud detection technology. If the fraud detection technology is built internally, they should be cross checking their results with a third party, such as Click Forensics or Anchor Intelligence. This way, fraud detection decisions are being validated by a third party system and are providing you with solid quality traffic. This of course will give you reassurance that your budget won’t be depleted due to fraudulent clicks.
I think that it's possible to generate enough traffic through PPC if done correctly; however, sometimes certain types of campaigns should be treated differently. I went from doing PPC for real estate companies to now doing it for job and education sites. I was very successful at my real estate PPC but right now things aren't going too well with my job and edu sites. My challenge is keeping my CPA low while increasing conversions. This is a challenge I never really faced with my real estate PPC because I had a bigger budget and all that mattered was click generation. The more clicks we got, the more commission I received. So just remember to keep different things in mind, such as: CPA, conversions, CTR and quality score. If you achieve a good quality score and continue to optimize wisely, you should be fine!
There are many businesses that use PPC effectively. However, it can be expensive. If you are new to it, just monitor it very carefully.
PPC can be expensive and hard to navigate. Organic traffic that only SEO can provide, is the most targeted, least expensive, and highest converting form of traffic you can get to your website.
Google is an excellent source of traffic and a great way of generating leads. I use it in my business with great results!
I agree with you : Adwords can ruin you or can bring you the ROI you are looking for, it depends on your experience and product
Try and do a good mixture of PPC / Organic and other methods - general advertising banners etc on relevant sites/ Press Release etc etc and what every is relevant to your business
If you have no experience and right software better dont mess with adwords, it will eat all the money. Invest in some software or ebooks about it, well I can give you some for free and study it first!
I have been advertising through adwords and seems working perfectly. Though I got 1 client who visited my site through organic search, after that not sure how does people see my site, may be organic (appearing if we search) or ppc not sure, but seems it works. Though I don't advertise through google network, more impressions/more clicks which leads me to spend more and get few real inquiries.
