Is it actually possible to get a site (that you do not own your self) by using black hat seo tricks like massive back linking and/or doorway pages or similar techniques?

Getting a competitor banned by creating low quality spam backlins pointed to them has long been a question within the SEO community. In the past, Google had always said that this could not happen, but last year they changed their tune slightly. They stated that it is highly unlikely because most sites have lots of links so it would take an overwhelming number of spammy links to have an affect.

Most likely the older a site is and the more links it has, the less likely this could ever happen. It might have more of an affect on a new site, but nonetheless Google no longer says it is impossible.
