Support for vbulletin 3.X series has stopped anyway. All your going to be getting is security updates from now on.

Ever since internet brands bought vbulletin, they have been pushing vb 4 pretty good. I kinda doubt they want you going backwards.

I haven't tried it yet but I hear the latest version of 4.x has a "vb 3.x theme updater".
Might check that out, I would go with the latest version of 4 if you can.

Which is pretty ironic cause Internet Brands doesn't even use vBulletin 4 for any of their own sites. They stick with vB3 for just about all of them.

You can always use vBulletin 3.8.7 if you so prefer. You just don't get support for it (but you don't get ticket support anyways for the $195 option).
