Can You Build High Rankings And Traffic Without Backlinks?

This is probably a dumb question but I don't know. Every site I've built I've always worked a plan as far as getting backlinks is concerned.

But could you build high search rankings and get high search engine traffic through content alone?

Is it possible? Has anyone had any great results without a backlink building campaign?

Or am I just being thick

 

Yes if you have good content and a good domain in a micro niche

 

you need links to rank well

 

I guess now, with just content, you'll only get high rank and traffic for short period of time. But with backlink, it almost like your guard in the eye of search engine. Like saying, "hei, i have a quality content so don't drop my rank ok?"

 

You need back links to rank well in all of the major search engines. Content alone won't do you any good. It's like building a restaurant in the middle of the desert and not telling anyone about it. Someone might stumble on it by accident, but you'll never get any serious traffic.

You need to build links not only for the search engines, but try to get links from other site that generate traffic. That traffic is usually more "qualified" and will convert to sales.

 

I don't think that a site can do better in search engines without links
