Just read a post by Aaron Wall and notice the following quote:

So it is official at least in Yahoo's context that footer links are invaluable when it comes to ranking.. Well.. wonder if Google thinks this way as well..

Yeah, there will be no more link for sales for new template. Poor those sellers. But, from my understanding, it is for yahoo right?

That's not something new. Google used to devalue footer links since ages.

Guys, location of link / keyword is a major factor in ranking pages even in silliest of search engine scripts (including htdig). Most SEs would probably apply some kind of logarithmic calculation to calculate weight for a keyword / link. It's good to see it coming from an 'almost official' source :)

Dan Theis has been saying this for years. Nice to know that someone who works in a search team finally admitted it though.

They certainly haven't as of yet. moneyextra.com has 5,300,000 of them through the DP network and is ranked top 5 for every money term going.

    its good to know,
do you think google will ever go this way? or do you feel their algorithm is so strong they don't want to change it that dramatically?
