MSN will ban you first. Google will just never rank you.

Any smart engine can track link schemes so it is best to go for organic linking. Select quality directories [ niche] for link and traffic as well and add good content. People would give you link - unasked.

Yes they will ban you as too much links in a short period of time is not good for you and links on link pages in those sites are some times more than stipulated!

Ok. I did geta handful (not many links from linkmarket) when I firsat started a ite about 12 months ago. I got pretty good rankings from Google all this time until 2 months agao when I kept going in and out of the SERPS (but still fully indexed). It happened about 5-6 times. After the most recent time, I still remain out interms not ranking (I only get up to about 15 UV from google a day now as opposed to 500-600. However, my site is still in Linkmarket's directory because they don't respond to emails. I have asked them to take me off their list but no response. I have removed my subscription but that still runs fro another 11 months. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to do it before they took thes usbcription for another year.

I also listed on many directories which, if i had a chance again, would be much more selective.

I do however think my non-ranking at the moment is more a coincidence because I kept going in an out for a period of last two months.
