No, Yahoo Search has been sold to Microsoft, so the best search engine are Google and Bing. Anyway, Google can provide us more informative search results to us and has been making great improvements.

Bing? I never heard of it. :D
For me Yahoo cannot compete is Google because Google is just very simple and user friendly.
My eyes hurt when I see Yahoo because too many words there. @_@

Google is still king but im sure it is only a matter of time before they are over taken by another rival. I don't think it will be one of the current engines though, not because they aren't as good just because to many people have google as their homepage and as tobacco companies know, people like familiarity not change and people are lazy, it takes effort to change your homepage.

Yahoo can not overcome Google, if Yahoo and Bing join together, they can only reduce the market share of Google in the search engine market.

If you can stop using large and bold fonts, your threads could have been a little bit more interesting.

Yahoo Search is now powered by Bing, so technically, there's no Yahoo versus Google anymore but just Bing versus Google.

search.yahoo.com - Do a search, look at the footer and see for yourself.

Yahoo! Search can't compete with Google. People have been so addictive to Google now... Yahoo! and Bing has to think some good strategy to get Google users.

Google has the best search algorithm which other don't have and they are making it more better and better. so i don't see any website that can overcome GOOGLE.

Unfortunatly I dont see it happening but would be nice if it was a little more of an even share between them.

I agree with johneva. I don't see Yahoo (or Bing for that matter) anywhere close to big G in the near future, although some sort of stiffer competition would be more than welcome :)

For now, no doubt google is the leading search engine but it's also possible that someday there might be a new search engine that can outrank google.

Looking at the way things are going, yahoo wil never ever overcome google. As you said, the google is plain and simple, yahoo is nothing but bunch of ads, news, and links.

Nope. Google took the Search Engine battle like a storm. The only battle left is for 2nd place. BTW, why post in big fonts and not regular size ones?

    - If you mean the old Yahoo, it is impossible since Yahoo has been taken over by Microsoft already and yet no potential enough to compete with Google anyway
    - If you mean the current Yahoo using Bing algorithm, then it is possible but may take a huge time gap. May be our lifetime. Bing has some potent but Google is always more addictive to regular users over Bing.

I don't think that yahoo can overcome google, unless, the latter will make costly mistakes soon that can make a lot of people disappointed. But now, I don't see that google is slowing down.

Google still holds a majority of the market share in searches - 63% in fact. Last September, Yahoo announced that it would abandon its search engine in favor of its partnership with Bing. Now that Yahoo and Microsoft Bing have merged it might cause a dent in Google's share but quite honestly it wouldn't be enough to topple Google in the long run.

The fact of the matter is Google still has the best search technology out there and its got some of the most loyal users too... so Yahoo and Bing have got a lot to work on. :)
