Can Yahoo groups give traffic to your websites?

I started to add my site link at different yahoo groups. It's no spam because i put my link into groups that are relatives to my website.
Will it bring any traffic or i'm wasting my time off?

Of course it can bring traffic, I will just warn you that the results of this will be quite disappointing. The only people that successfully make a good amount of money from groups are spammers that run bots to scour the groups.

Posting your link in groups without actually adding to the discussion is also spam by my definition anyway.

i think sending mails to group with your link as signature can give some traffic. if you post in groups of same niche then you can get targeted traffic also.

I guess getting in to meaningful conversations and using the signature will work. But that will be a long processs..

Why not write Guest Posts on other sites ? or try Blog Commenting (again meaningful ones)

It should provide some traffic if it is relevant to your niche.

If you join a group, there is an area for links that you can add your url with keywords to. I have never seen a nofollow to the links on these pages, but also have never seen any PR.

Your best bet is post relevant articles to the groups and then, instead of posting the entire article, start posting relevant links to relevant articles on popular groups. That can bring nice traffic and not piss off the administrators that much. Nobody likes spam, so put on your gray hat and hope for a glare.

Sure they can but I don't know if the quality will be very good. It might be worth testing out some though... Good luck

It depends on how active the group is and how well the poster is admired by other members....

Members are anyway limited and does not give vast visibility as compared to other social forums.

really poor conversion. just post your links at groups at right optimised place. sure you will get the enough traffic. try adding some colored banners too.

I think the only way a Yahoo Group can send quality traffic is if you become a respected member of that group (participate in other conversations a lot, help other people). Just by having a link in your signature will probably be useless.

Yep, I think you should establish reputation and trust first by contributing to the group on regular basis and also diversify your efforts towards Yahoo Answers.
