    Hello,
Namecheap offers cheap whois protection of about 2.88 $ per year while godaddy does so at 8$ (yes i know currently its set at 1.99$ per year but thats just a offer which might expire who knows when).

So i would like to know can a privacy protection bought from one domain provider be used on other domain providers domain , i.e can whois protection from namecheap be used on godaddy domains or yahoo domains or any other domains and vice-versa?

    thanks

To the question I dont know, but I doubt it. To the larger question I have some names protected, some not. I do not seem to get much spam through whois.

I get occasional spam emails through a "contact me" section on my selling site, which is unavoidable, and sometimes I get letters (as in paper letters through the Post Office) that want me to renew my domain through someone I have never heard of, or submit my site to a zillion search engines for $45 per month, kindly subtracted from my credit card from now till forever.

It is not worth paying to prevent the little spam I get that might and might not be stopped.

I also should mention that another registrar (not namecheap or godaddy) where I had spam protection was not forwarding email as promised. There is no way to know if I missed a big offer for one of my domains because the (non-spam) email was not delivered.

Why not join DNOA (www.dnoa.org) which is $6 a year and offers free whois protection to members. This can be used on all your domains and at all registrars. Much cheaper than buying it from your registrar.

BTW you can't use your whoisguard from NC on GD ("legally") anyway.
