Just wondering, can who you host your websites with hurt the ability of for getting spidered? Are some web hosting servers better config than others for handling SE spider visits?
The very basic thing in that respect is, many webhosts have frequent outages, or oversell to that extent that loading website on them takes forever, for visitor and search engine alike. Both bad for spidering.
how about links like i've heard this: "When a certain site hosted at thesame place links to another website also hosted there, get's less seo benefits?"
I have a site with a PR of 2. And the only link back to it is from another site of mine with a PR of 3 (the links page). Both these sites are hosted on the same host, and have the same IP address. If someone spams by having a 100 websites with nothing on them but links to the other 99 sites, then maybe that will hurt SEO. Normal liking is fine, I think.
Maybe shared hosting...shares the same c-class IP range and perhaps search engines take account into blocking sites from that range.
hardly... most of my sites are within the same IP range along with hundreds of others at our shared server. and they are rocking in serps big time i though hear some hosts block bots from coming using automatically generated robots.txt for each account they create.
Well than secondly, can anyone suggest a good host with mod rewrite capabilities? My current host doesn't allow it.
asmallorange.com Its quite ironic actually lol because the server im on is down at the moment. But its the best host i ever had for sure.
thanks... i checked out asmallorange and they look great... i will go with them, but it seems that right now they are not taking any new orders until later this week.
Where you host can affect where you get traffic from too. I have one blog host that uses .uk and .nz mirrors, I think locally hosted, and I get some great local traffic on competitive terms.
