Can we use shorten URL for off-page submission?

    Hello Everybody,
    I have list of social bookmaking & I have submitted my all links. So now could i used shorten URL for submission? Is it legal or spam? Does this thing help me to get ranking high?

    Whether it's allowed depends on the terms of each site you're submitting to. In most cases, as far as I know, it's OK.

    Whether it helps you rank depends on what kind of redirect is the URL shortener using. If it's 301, you should be fine. In any case, however, it's much better to use direct links, not redirects.

    url shortening service widely used on twitter which limits its content to 140 characters and in facebook status updates where 420 characters is the limit.
    Whether shortened links used in your webpages are a threat to search engine optimization ? Or is that just a misinformation? Do URL shorteners pass anchor text? Check the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMkltd6dZzU

    generally in social bookmarking site URL shorten is not needed.but microblogging sites like facebook, twitter are needed Shorten URL for more content placing.If you use direct links your original URL will be crawled so it will increase the site impression also.

    I think it can be used as SB sites some times do not take repeated urls, so we can use like goo.gl or bit.ly but not in access. I heard http://goo.gl/ is more in use today.
