    can we use long tail keywords for meta tags?
    Eg:
    <meta name="keywords" content="holiday tour, tourism packages...." />
    Instead of using primary keywords in meta tags, may i use long tail keywords inside it?
    like

    <meta name="keywords" content="holiday packages from london to paris, ...." />

    Help needed. Thanks in advance

    Regards,
    Roger

    You can always use long tail or short or both keywords in meta tags, as long as they look meaningfull.

    for keywords tag, it doesn't make any different whether you use short or long tale keywords. In-fact it doesn't matter whether you apply keyword tag or not. I don't remember if any search engine reads this tag.

    However, if you use keywords tag (long tail or short), you actually disclose your exact list of keywords to your competitors :) so avoid it.

    @rogerbinny: Google doesn't consider meta keyword for search ranking. Even SEOMoz.com (SEOMoz.com is now moz.com) doesn't use meta keyword.

    If Google is not only your goal then i prefer meta keyword. Here is the list of meta tag that Google understand. https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/79812?hl=en

    You can use longtail keywords for meta tags. They are valuable due to the low competition. People who are looking for longtail keywords, buy more products most of the time because they simply already know what they want. So longtail keywords are a great resource to use in website meta tags and article writing.

    You can use it for sure. We have tested on around 10 domains a site with no META KEYWORD STUFFING gives a site better chance of rankings.

    Avoid Meta keywords and you should be good to go. Have your keywords within the BODY tag and try to create content for USER's and not Search Engines. :)

    Yes, they will. It would be better if you use long tail keywords for your users and also for search engines. Try to optimize your website as per user point of view instead of think about search engines tactics.

    Optimize your website according to search engines guidelines. Search engines mainly looking to serve best results to its users.
