can we use external sitemap?

hi friends
i m using blogger. and i submitted the sitemap in the webmaster tool, is there any alternative of webmaster tool, for uploaded my sitemap? because, it's showed the error oftenly, like url not found, "URLs restricted by robots.txt" so i decided to go else. plz tell me alternative, how should i ranked in the google

you put these files under your site... e.g yoursitename.com/robots.txt

then put on the root

 

If you don't want to use Webmaster Tools to submit your XML Sitemap, then you can use the robots.txt file to do it as well. See http://www.catanich.com/sitemaps-via-robots-txt.asp for the format.

Then use the SE's ping service to update it weekly. See http://www.catanich.com/sitemap-ping-services.asp

But I do recommend that you still use the WMT application. It gives you a great deal of information to help you fix problems.

Just make sure that you place the XML Sitemap file in the root directory.
