Can we put a character limit on the anchor text?

The ad COOP is a great and powerful tool! However, one of the prolems is that the length of the anchor text that some people use is much to long and can have negative affects on the design of peoples websites. Just wanted to know what others thought about this idea or if we will see a change in this for the future.

Here Here. Some of them are too long or in all CAPITAL letters.

There shouldn't be any in all capitol letters... if you find one, let me know. There also is a character limit on the anchor text (50 characters) which has been discussed a few times already. :)

    No offense to these people:

"Printer Cartridges - Compatible Inkjet Cartridges"
    "Polycom Conference Phones Polycom Soundstation"
"Create free blog / weblog / online journal / diary "

The problem is when you have 4-5 ads showing and 2 or 3 of them are this long. Of course the obvious solution is "Don't show that many ads if you have a problem". But I think that it may benefit everyone if only 2 or 3 word max.

Well *I* don't run any ads more than 2 words, so it would not affect me. And of course I like shorter ads myself. But what about something like, "Real Estate In San Diego"... that's 5 words and in my opinion not an obnoxious ad.

Yeah you are right! Maybe it is a dead issue. I guess if everyone just considers each other while making their anchor text maybe it would be better.

some of the ads are all lowercase as well and to me that kind of looks like they don't belong. I used the CSS text-transform: capitalize; to make the first letter of each word capitalized. Looks much better. I don't think it will work on all caps though.

put it to a vote if majority agrees there is a simple php commands combination (ucwords() & strtolower() to transform any var or array element into words stating with a capital letter which we can ask S to integrate for those php challenged.

Or simply integrate it into your bit of the php.

    $bar = 'HELLO WORLD!';
    $bar = ucwords(strtolower($bar)); // Hello World!

Doesn't always work though... For example, something like "John McCain's Book" becomes "John Mccain's Book", or "eBay" becomes "Ebay".

Not only that, what about things with UK and USA in them? (just an example from your signature), something like "UK airport parking" becomes "Uk airport parking", or "USA Flags" becomes "Usa Flags".

hey... it's OK I don't want to get in an argument here.....

For me it dosen't matter if uk is spelled uK or Uk

uK airPort ParkinG on G same results as for the correct UK airport parking it just looks crap to which I agree.

    cheers and thanks for LED

PS Usa is correct isn't it? Europe is bigger.....

No, Usa is not correct... :) It's USA (since it's an abbreviation).

Some are a bit too long. Googles ads are an appropriate length. What character length do they use?

Until I read your post I didn't know about that option. I've implemented it and it does look better. Thanks.
