I have a question if I can purchase a country related ebay domain name such as ebaychina.com? I have seen ebayusa.com parked under godaddy without problem. Appreiciate your inputs in this thread.

it will surely create a legal issue if you develop a website
you can just live on parking revenues then
only way such websites can work will be support forums for the brand name.

I heard some where that if the domain is for non-profit ebay are fine with it, not sure if it's a correct statement or what though.

If you live in USA, then never.

And anyways, the day they locate that domains under you and is famous. They will come in to get it.

And china is a huge market. So count on it.

Dont be stupid. get someother domain

I would not do it. As amnezia said: "ebay are rather protective of there trademark".

I would never take a risk like that.

As long as you're not trying to run another auction site or something else that could compete with, or be confused with, ebay.

I would pay to see you argue what your version of the word "Ebay" means to the judge. :D

It would be one thing if the company had a name like "Best Buy" or some other English concoction. When a company is a made up word, the case is pretty tight.

Personally I wouldn't. Ebay are very protective of their trademark. Running another auction site could constitute a 'passing off' issue.

Best not to do it but if you want, talk to ebay legal about it. If they say it is okay then it is okay. Otherwise don't touch it with a six foot pole.
