Can we own co.uk domains even if were not from uk and doesnt have uk address? i am thinking of buying a tld domain co.uk
I recently asked a similar question here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1868301 I think it might help you Chuckun
People decide their tld based on their marketing focus and not their own domicile. It appears it is no longer relevant to be a resident of a particular country to own its country specific tld. Hence if you are looking to specifically target the market of UK... you can very well go ahead and own a co.uk domain. Regards, RightMan
I suppose you need to understand what for are you taking that domain name for.... If there is no reason IMHO better have TLD domain name instead.
Is that true? I thought that the owner of a country specific tld must be a resident of that country as well. I am Indonesian and the Indonesian tld registration require an ID information. And once, I registered a .us domain through Godaddy. They asked me if I'm a resident of the U.S., or if I'm one to spend a lot of time in U.S., or (I don't remember the third option). There's no such option like "I'm not resident and do not live in U.S."
Yep, it's true, there are a few countries like France that require some sort of business in the country or being a resident, .US has similar requirements, but most other country specific TLDs don't. CO.UK is fine from anywhere in the world. Be careful with .CN, they have a nasty habit to revoke registration with fishy excuses, just happened to me with a real premium .CN, they simply denied renewal.
I searched in google "allowed to have co.uk domain without being a resident" and this what i found on a company that registers co.uk (http://www.ntchosting.com/domains/co.uk.html) and it says their
You can do this, I have one. I do not live in the UK. You can chose in registant type Non-UK Individual
The answer is simply YES... Its like me asking the question can we buy a .in if i dont live in india? lol
Very few domain registries now require domicile of a particular country, a notable exception is Australia where the owner, be it an individual or business, must have a presence here. .co.uk is a very powerful domain. People in the UK are up there in eCommerce and as such a .co.uk is good to have if you are aiming for a British market. We find that dictionary word .co.uk domains are usually valued higher than any of their counterparts except for .com which , as always, remains king.
Yes you can, I use namecheap but it's more expensive than .com domain. Can we buy .co.uk domain from uk domain registrant even when we don't live in UK? What domain registrant do you use to get cheap uk domain? (sorry, OOT question)
