Can we know a registered user's password by any means ?

    I know we can reset it, but can we know as well ?

    Does VB/PHP/SMF any other comes with such a feature ?

    I don't think any forum software will let you know the password, because it is illegal.

    Probably not.. they're all encrypted.

    You can't do this in vb. It first salts the password and then use double one way encryption (MD5).

    All the major forum softwares use MD5 or SHA to encrypt passwords in the database. If you use phpMyAdmin or similar, you can go to the "users" (or similar) table and see the encrypted passwords.

    However, there is no way to decrypt them - and there is good reason for this. There should be no reason to want to find a member's password. If they don't know it, you can reset it. And you don't need to know it to be able to edit their account.
