I am assuming you are asking about the optimal use of the meta tag keywords for SEO purposes...

The keywords in this tag should be relevant to the current page.
Create them for each page, depending on the content.
The important ones should be placed first.

    Cheers,

First advice I was ever given for meta tags was never go above 25 words or pharses and never repeat a word more than 3 times. I try to stick to 15-20 and it seems to work.

    Thank you friends,
I have one more doubt. Can we have keywords like this?
assume the site is for ebooks, can we have keywords for homepage like computerscience ebooks, physics ebooks, chemistry ebooks like that, where the word "ebooks" is repeating?

My advice it to not waste your time of making meta keywords. Google certainly do not care about those.

I would not use the ebooks word more than three times.

This is true, but some of the lesser search engines still rely on them and Google is top but not the only SE.

Then is the question on how much time to use for the lesser ones, I say no time. Beside Yahoo, MSN and Google, maybe Baidu if you can, the other ones are not worth optimizing for.
