Can we get traffic from Dir Submission ?

For example, if we make a new website with above avg content, and we submit it to about 1000 dir from PR 5 to 2 (manually), can we get some visitors from it consistently ?

Any observations ?

We can get a very little traffic from directories. Directories are used to gain one way links for your site, nowadays, they are not used for building traffic anymore.

 

i dont think that now a days directories are a huge source of traffic. today they are used only for having a oneway link to your site and that way you can increase the backlinks to your site. but surely you forget about traffic from there.

As the others have said, you're not likely to get much traffic from directories these days. That being said, they're still worth getting when you're just starting out as they can provide a basic foundation for your link building profile.

I don't think we people get much traffic from directories. There can be some instances where you get 1-2 clicks in a day from some big directories like Dmoz, Yahoo Dir or Google dir

But one should not expect getting regular and high amount of traffic from directories

Yes It's true, Directory submissions can give lot of traffic to your website. Submitting your website to various directories makes it to appear on different search engines, due to which people easily picks them.

 

Its fact that unless you are in sponsor listing you wont get any traffic from directories but this is also true that directory submission is best for getting backlinks that too if those directories are index by google. so better start from free directory submission and build some relevant directory backlinks.
