I think so because most of the content/ if not all, is released under GPL (General Public license) I think, and I think you can use it on your own site. But think you have to say you got it from wikipedia.

Not entirely sure but thats what i think

Yes, you can. You'll be hit with the duplicate content penalty from google if you're doing more than simply quoting a snippet or two from wikipedia. And into the supps you'll go.

Because your site comes under the list of pages that exist on the internet, and if you want Google to decide whether or not your site is worthy enough to send visitors to, you need to allow Google to bother about your site :p ;)

    Dude use freely
they cant do anything it is released under GPL.
if you are honest to wikipedia then say that is is from wikipedia otherwise no need of this also.
but if you are really sincere abt your site then i will recomend you to modify the article so some one (google also ) should not know it.

Whenever you take content from another source, if it is legal, the minimum procedure is to list your source.

    Example:

    "Quote content from wikipedia here"
    Source: Wikipedia

It's similar to when you refer to journals, research etc etc when writing your own article

always check their temrs and conditions of use before taking any risks.

Wikipedia fair use policy allows you to do so as long as you put a reference back to it.

I guess it's perfectly fine to use Wikipedia content as long as you follow this:

    ------
That is to say, Wikipedia content can be copied, modified, and redistributed so long as the new version grants the same freedom to others and acknowledges the authors of the Wikipedia article used (a direct link back to the article satisfies our author credit requirement).
    -------

Firstly, Wikipedia content is not licensed under the GPL. It is licensed under the FDL - the free documentation license.

However, content from Wikipedia can be redistributed under the same license. FLD requires attribution for the original author, which in this case is Wikipedia. So link back to the source article.

It's true that direct copying of large parts of Wikipedia articles can cause Google to flag you site duplicate content, so you should rewrite the content to some degree - this too is perfectly fine by the FDL. Just remember to link to all sources and you're fine.

If its duplicate content, they can bury it so far in results, no one will ever find your site. And, depending on the subject, wikipedia isn't always 100% accurate. I'll use them to find out a basic "what is" type thing, but for anything more detailed than that, theres other venues that are better for research.
