I was wondering if my business is powered 100% by HydroElectricity: can it be labeled as 100% green energy? In what rank order whould you place Hydroelectricity, SunPower, WindPower, ... ?
Yes it is most definitely "Green." As long as it is considered a renewable resource it is considered green! wikiagreen is a great resource for a lot of that stuff if you would want to read up on it
To be precise its not green. Because you need to sacrifice a lot of natural resources such as jungle, tree to built the dam.
Hydro electricity is the best - Sure you may submerge lot of area. It helps by providing water for drinking and Irrigation. The Greenest you can get. 1000's of acres of Green crops... You cant get greener than that.
Hydroelectricity is as green as it gets . All the other forms like sun , wind , wave also need installations to harvest the KWH so you don't need to worry about the few eco nuts . And yes it is considered green hosting just make sure that your plant doesn't endanger any species or cover any historic sites .
You cannot claim to be green just because you use a renewable energy source. You could have all your energy from such a source but constantly run both electric heating and airconditioning because you like your feet warm but the rest of you cool. Being "green" you should also look at things like being carbon neutral, recycling, using energy efficient servers etc etc.... you can state your fully powered by renewable energy sources
Your just being picky. Anyone can setup a hydro turbine and make money its GREEN ENERGY because its not using fossil fuels. anything that doesn't use a fossil fuel is a GREEN rated energy. Dont be fooled by know it alls.
I live in Quebec & like 90%(or more) of our national electricity production is HydroElectricity(that's why the state controled energy supplyer (who has the monopoly of production) is called HYDRO-QUEBEC & has the cheapest rates in all North-America). If it's powered by Hydro: it hasn't have any carbon marks? http://www.hydroquebec.com/residential/prix.html
