can we believe keyword tools now ?

I have tried it with a major keyword on which they were saying 400 searches per day.

Checked on DP keyword estimates tools

    Overture said 227.4 /day
    Wordtracker said 523.0 /day

The site is on # 1 on Google
and traffic isnt even 10 clicks per day.

The client is

Can anyone else give some idea on what tools are the best to estimate the traffic.

Or maybe the Google Adwords above you are getting all the traffic.

Could be the title isnt attractive also. Maybe it doesnt display what the user is looking for.

Also it could be a seasonal keyword. Dont know because I dont know the keyword.

I always check on keyword discovery also to get their results. But you have to pay for that site.

That's not too bad. You have to remember they are only estimates, and promising a client results based on estimates from these tools is a practice you should probably avoid.

These tools are great for finding out what people are searching for and making better informed choices as to what content to put on your site, but that is all really.

Exactly, it gives you a good estimation as to what is being searched for, but how often? its impossible to predict. Especially helpful in deciding on plurals or not plurals - and whether using ' or not.

Site title can definitely improve click thru rates, it is a place to start, that's for sure.

site title is good and completely related to the keyword and what people would click on

Also, there is another issue which i expect could be doing the trouble. Adsense above the results.

But, atleast, the site should get around 20 clicks a day. i expect first 3 results to do good in searches.

There should be some relevance of reality to the estimate.

I wont say that an estimate is worth wasting time, if its way too far from reality.

    Reality isn't even 10 % of estimate.

And i checked on not one, but most tools. Keyword discovery and DP keyword suggestion tool to name a few.

Say there are 400 searches made a day. That does not mean all 400 are going to click on same page. The number 1 listing probably gets the most hits but if number 5 sounds more like what person is seeking ...

out of 400, can # 1 expect just 5 %, keeping in mind the title is inviting and is closely related to topic

also ill add, the same person could do multiple searches per day, if they click your site once and then decide your site is not what they are looking for the rest of there clicks will go elsewhere.

also to note just because overture says it gets x amount of searches a day it does not mean that google gets the same amount.

Stop whining and being ungreatful for the answers that we have give you so far for fucks sake. They're estimates. Nothing more.

You will not discover a way to get more clicks out of this phrase.

How on earth are tools like WT and Overture going to actually estimate to any great accuracy what phrases are searched for?

It's unfortunate it isn't getting what you expected and promised your client, so learn from it and don't make promises based on estimates nor assume anything but 'a rough idea of a terms popularity' from keyword tools.

It's tough shit buddy. Live with it and accept the reality of the situation.
