Hi, DP is one of the best forums I know of, but is seriously lacking in one respect (I'll try to describe it clearly). In July or Aug (for example) I respond to someones post, and do see their follow-up reply (only if I'm hanging here every day, and remember to check the thread). Now, I'm aware we can subscribe to threads, and search all our older posts, but I know of something much, much better. A forum I used to go to often (political cr^p, I will not give the URL because politics= misery), had a very useful 'custom' modification. This mod offered a 'self search' which included not just my posts, but all the responses from other members who either quote me or reply to my post (this includes replies to all posts not just new threads). This way all interaction and responses are much easier to find. If I descibed it clearly enough, do we currently have an easy way to do the same thing at DP, or any chance this fine forum can be modified to be even much better?? Final note for clarity: All posts (and replies) showed a small 'reply to' link with the post number. So the end-user first chooses who they are replying to, and then they have the option of whether to 'quote' the original post in their text. These details don't need to be exactly the same, but I think the general idea of a kick-a^s self search function, showing all replies to our contributions would be a huge improvement. Thank you, MGH
If you click on the User CP and then the you can go to the first unread post in all the threads you have participated in.
Yes, you can already do that here easily: http://www.google.com/search?q="sen...++my_member_name+site:forums.digitalpoint.com Just change the parameters accordingly. This will retrieve all threads where you participated (or were mentioned) containing your search terms. Use Google cache to add key phrase highlighting.
that looks cool but , i cant make it work in google it gives "did not match any documents. " , can u plz give some example?
