Can two different advertisers use the same URL?

I am fully aware that google will only post one url on the page at a time, but here is the question.

With permission of the URL owner of course.

    1. Person one has different keywords than person 2.

    2. Can more than one person use the same url as long as the keywords are not the same.
(and each person has a different adwords account.)

Since the keywords are drastically different, the particular url would not be showing at the same time anyway..

    Hope this makes sense..

Yes if direct linking is allowed and all is good then you can do that and it should not be a problem as described, if they do clash the person with the highest ranking will win.

This is true, however, you will also want to check and ensure that direct linking / PPC is allowed by your affiliate, last thing you want to do is outrank your affiliate and piss them off and have them drop you.

Thanks for that, but not a problem as I am working directly with the site owner and the specific type site is real estate.
But here is another angle.. I keep hearing you folks complaining about google shutting you down for no good reason. Now my understanding is that if they shut you down, you cannot even open another account if they catch you.. correct?

So here is the question: We have a commercial adwords guy managing an account for the site, but we want to play with it on the side to see if we can do better... so I want to open an account and use keywords that are not being used by the commercial company. This way we are not competing with our selves.....

Now lets say that I piss off google and they shut down my account. Won't that also ban the url and would cause problems for the commercial company to keep running? Or would it just shut down my account and leave the URL alone?

In other words can I do any damage to the major commercial account running on the same URL i want to advertise...

The reason we think we can do better is that the commercial company is one of the cookie cutter sites that has a fairly complex IDX but they have little to no SEO which google likes for the quality scores. My idea is to build some really high quality pages and see if we can raise the quality score more than the commercial company therefore lowering the PPC cost per click...

    Hope all this makes sense.

Hi Tommy..I'm not sure I follow your post..I can understand wanting to test your management vs your outsourced one to see if there is any true value they are providing, but I think your going about it wrong..since your nto bidding on the same terms, its not really an apples to apples comparison..different keywords will inherently perform better, even with the same ads. It might be best to give them a trial period-see how the oursourced company does first, then shut them down and run it yourself for a reasonable time and see what the results are..there are many factors involved with campaign performance, so make sure your doing an even comparison.

Also, in terms of SEO to quality scores, there is no correlation between the two..Organic and Paid Search don't effect one another..IT IS a good idea to build quality landing pages for SEO and for Paid Search, but building them won't have a straight impact on quality scores(landing pages are but one factor of the QS..)
