Can tweaking the top title of my site have a large effect on my ranking?

    I've been changing the top of my site a bit -- the top title

    And my ranking is going DOWN from near the top to #5 !

    I think I am perhaps stuffing too many keywords..

    If I fix it will I likely go back?

    Of course title has high effect on rankings once google indexed the new title.

    It is generally accepted that the title is one of the most important on-site elements of SEO. This means that changing the title can have a big effect on your rankings.

    When ever you do any changes in your website (content, title or keyword) let the search engines know abt your updates. If you are not done with search engine submissions the crawler wont identify the changes and the rank may come down.

    I completely agree with AntonySEO.

    It has great effect on ranking. You should not try it when your site is on good ranks.

    You should be always careful of such changes. On-site changes are very critical.
