Do you think that the top domain name can influence a site ranking?
I mean does it matter for search engines if a business site is created on a .info top domain? Or an informative site on .com top domain?

I am trying to find a good domain name for a directory.
What top level domain would you choose for a general directory: .com, .net or .info?

    Thanks.

    i don't think it matters...

In terms of site ranking, it does not matter :)
The most important factor is to have fresh and unique content for your site.

The extension doesn't matter. Even .edu links are not more valuable. The reason some edu links are good is because they are old sites with good reputations rather than because they are edu links.
