    Hello All,

I posted a response to single blog and received over 40 back links. Is this harmfull or do not worry about it?

Do not worry about it. There are so few things you should worry about.

I could link 500 porn backlinks to your websites, and you woudn't have to worry about.

    Pm me for more questions,
    Dearly, fdamours

    Dont worry about it.

When you think about it, why would it be harmful. If it was - I could simply generate back links like this to competitors sites and cause them problems.

No, you should be ok. If you link out to bad sites - that's what can harm you.

    Could you please?

The question is different I think!

The question is if we take too many links from one site then would it harm our site?

I think if you are taking quality links then it is not harmful to your site, it would be helpful as well.

Google counts links on the basis of pages not sites, but unique IP address is also counted..

I would say not - the same thing has happened to me once or twice. I think it's the way some blogs are coded - occasionally, I have left a single comment and yet my link had appeared on each page of the blog.

I wondered also about this, especially about these blog rolls on blogs that link to each other in a repetetive manner.

Many blogs have a top commentor or recent comments section on the sidebar that will show your link on hundreds, or thousands of posts on the blog (depending on how many posts the blog has) and this can rapidly increase your link count literally overnight. It doesn't affect the serps either way in my experience.

The only time backlinks really dont help is when you link to one site, and they link back to yours. Google likes to throw them out. Otherwise, you should be fine with even 1,000 backlinks go to your site. However, if you use that many in YOUR site to the others, the spiders could (and most likely will) consider that you are just linking to sites for SEO.

    Simple answer: No

it just wont count any more than it normally would with 1 or 1000 links.

We cannot control who links to our sites: so backlinks can, most probably, not hurt a site.

There is an exception that no one has noted; if you are linked to from every single page on a website Google says they will penalize you. I do not remember the number of pages that has to be though and I don't think 40 links would be an issue.

On the contrary I have found reciprocal linking to be quite beneficial and even Axandra's Search Engine Facts just posted an update on the benefits of reciprocal linking. A link is a link in that case.

I know a couple of sites that got their links mostly from ALL pages of a couple of other sites. I don't see that they've been penalized, to the contrary they are doing very well.
