I have on my site http://www.freiburg-home.com an image next to the large rectangle in the upper-left portion of the pages. I don't believe the picture lures the visitor to click an ad personally but what do you think? Also, The menu system on the left-hand side of the page has drop-out submenu items that overlap the google ad in some parts, would this also be allowed? I have a time out large enough for someone not to accidentally click on the ad as the menu disappears. Another potential gray area is my picture slideshow next to the google ad at the top left, it shows pictures of Freiburg in a delayed ajax slideshow but I wonder would someone think that these picture transitions draw unnecessary attention to the google ad? Also, a few people have told me that they find my site "a little busy" - meaning that there's a lot of stuff there on first glance. Does any webmaster here agree? Any feedback appreciated, TIA.
The only issue would be the menu on the left side and overlapping. Not sure if it is a big issue really, i wouldnt worry about it personally (but i take risks like that!) To make it less busy looking reduce the number of colours that you are using. Perhaps move the blue red green and yellow blocks near the goog ads, or change their colour. Ich mag Ihre Website Good luck Notting
I don't find any problem with the ads. But usually Google advice publisher to put a visible line that separates images from ads. But for your case I don't think your violating Adsense TOS.
Thanks for your advice all, I will try and play with the coloured blocks near the google ads to see how it looks with two say, instead of four colours, perhaps then reducing the busy-ness (if such a word were to exist). Not quite sure what leander was saying in either of their posts...
Thanks guys, was just a tad worried after I have heard so much about people losing their accounts after breaking the at-times ambiguous rules.
I think your ads are nicely blended. You have a good rectangle block at the top, which I think will attract most of your clicks. Looks good with the image next to it as well.
