What if someone created 100's of links to a site's home page and to important internal pages, then took them all away and replaced them with a new set of links on a regular schedule. All the links come from different domains but all are hosted on the same server and owned by the same person. Just wondering because I am looking at a site that is slowly losing traffic, now up to almost 50% and the above is one thing that is happening to the site. Opinions?
Actually google doesn't like if you manipulate PR by interlinking multiple domain owned by the same person. They can slowly penalized for each of the keyword ranking in search engine so it's best to avoid using such strategy.
Yes, that's what is happening the site is being slowly downgraded in the serps - but this site has nothing to do with the incoming links in any way. Someone else owns the network and is linking to the site from 100's of domains, then the domains all go 404, then a new set of links come in. Why would someone want to do this?
As I said, manipulate and give a boost on the PR by providing 100's of backlinks pointing to the site url. It's a common approach used nowadays. If you head over to links sales section you can such a lot of these offers and you will see what I mean.
Yes, it would harm your sites PR and position in SERP's. This would be, in essence, a dynamic google bomb.
Hmmm two questions, how can you fight back if someone does that to your site? And has anyone ever tested this? Who has done it and actually watched a site go down just by a massive rotating link attack? I would have thought massive would be thousands of links but I am only seeing hundreds...??
Weird...who would want to do this to anybody? Sabotage? If it really happens, just report it to google. I've never tested it before cause I want to avoid my site getting penalized.
Report it how? Also, I meant someone could test it on a dmoz page or something...they wouldn't mind, I don't think because it wouldn't hurt them and it's not permanent, I wouldn't test it on someone who depends on ranking though, that too mean.
